November 9th 2019, Nigel Noizes Bonfire nite Bash and Barbie, an amazing private residence turned into an art installation on each floor, for the address and to be in with a chance of an invitation you need to call Nigel direct ring 07967963165 invite is at Nigel’s discretion only. We are really looking forward to performing at the 3 day Victor Jara, El Sueno Existe Festival on 16th, 17th & 18th August 2019. This years theme is Mexico and Women of Latin America. We are delighted to be performing several times in different parts of the Festival, Cafe Alys on Saturday afternoon time TBA, the main stage in the Marquee Sunday afternoon at 1pm and a surprise spot on Friday night in the Hall at 9:10pm. I highly recommend this fabulous festival.. It is nothing like you have experienced before, a part of Wales is transformed into South America for the weekend truly magical the festival also explores very important world issues, stimulates conversation and brings a fresh perspective from 1000’s of miles away.. amazing!! Friday 6th July is our 21st Century Avant Garde Soiree at Karamel N22  with incredible performers already lined up including superstar rapper Dekay Ex, Master Composer Martin Gaughan, his work for bass viol and voice being performed by the extraordinary Jenny Bliss Bennett and Darren and Isobel Hirst’s wonderful duo Outre Dan Steele much more information to come in the July newsletter.
 
There is no August Soiree but on 2nd – 5th August we will be performing at the beautiful and uplifting Green Gathering,Piercefield Park, Chepstow NP16 6BE. I was taking the escalator over the hill…hang on… somethings burning… It’s our Beltane Birthday Soiree on the 4th May!!! The extraordinary Alfie Thomas has hit a very significant number of earth years.. Oh what a dancing dragon of a party we have in store for YOU… Yee Hah!!! Our star studded night includes the fantastic John Moore (Black Box Recorder, Express Way and Jesus and the Mary Chain) performing a couple of his hits from his new album Knickerbocker Glory “Couched in shimmering rock, Sixties girl-group pop and even a touch of operatic soprano on Anne of a Thousand Days, this is a literary pop gem.” The Times – guess who the operatic soprano is? Punk legend virtuosic saxophonist John Glyn (X-ray specs and Wreckless Eric ) will be astounding us with his magical improvisation weaving his beautiful tones with the incomparable virtuosic guitarist Richard Bolton their inspiration is the vibe of the night we all have a part to play in creating something totally original, the beautiful, soulful Magdalena Grabher will be looping her intricate musical motifs to create ethereal soundscapes and gorgeous songs, the wonderful highly acclaimed poetess Lady Amy Neilson Smith and master of woodwind Sir William Summers (Circulus, Princes in the Tower) will be astounding us with their Shakespearian inspired set, award winning spoken word performer Cian Binchy will be making us think, catch him before he takes his sell out show Madness re:Exit to Manchester for a month, urban punk goddess I am Her will be performing songs from her brand new album, the superb Math Jones will be sharing his Beltane musings, welcoming to the Soiree mystery new poet Charlie and author Samuel Bates, special guest DJ TBA and special Birthday songs from Society of Imaginary Friends. On Friday 2nd March As we climb out of our warm dark burrows into the golden slanting sunlight our hearts swell with joy and we dance a manic tarantella chase each other in crazy circles, play-box under the serene blue sky and as the moon rises the static electrical frenzy of fizical freedom – it’s mating time!!! Our well mad March Soiree features extraordinary performances from Hungry Dog Brand aka Martin Dowsing… his songs full of dry wit and dark tales, his infamous gigs at the legendary Soho 12 Bar club will be brought to Wood Green for one night only (he is also an excellent author), Gisela Meyer is an internationally acclaimed cellist and concert pianist but on 2nd March she will be singing 3 Debussy love songs accompanied on piano by John Human, Darren Hirst reknowned NME journalist, RSC’s official reviewer, Professor of Baseball and Vicar, will be performing Shakespeare soliloquys plus he is one half of duo Outre Dan Steele with his talented pianist wife Isobel who will also be performing, young and beautiful up and coming R & B singer Tamara Canada, equally young and talented pianist and composer Blert Ademi, Franziska Lantz has her own show Driftshift on Resonance FM and will be performing on Friday as “Global Warming Records”, Cian Binchy, fresh from his Mexican tour and……. We will take the path that leads down from the fell, over the style, over a stream and into the heart of the forest. At first it seems completely lifeless in the wood all of it’s creatures hibernating deep in the ground but as our eyes become adjusted to the dusky dark and senses a tuned to it’s music..the rustle of a robin in the dried leaves, a squirrel’s staccato a falling pine cone. Suddenly we are in a clearing of softest moss a place of refuge and rest where a clear spring rises and sunlight dances. Welcome to our “Into the Forest” Soiree. We are honoured to present two goddesses of Earth and Heaven, Princess of the thermals Keiko Kitamura (link) and High Priestess of the Industrial hood Meg Lee Chin (link).

Meg Lee Chin Hip Hop poetess of the Taipei / San Fransisco twilight. She is a musical innovator and renowned for her cutting edge approach as a producer, performer and composer, The onetime front woman for the all-female noise unit Crunch, she was also a member of the seminal industrial supergroup Pigface. A fascinating, brilliant performer and composer we are so excited that she is performing on 2nd February.
Keiko Kitamura is a brilliant world famous composer for and player of the traditional Japanese instrument her 17 string bass Koto, she also plays the Shamisen and sings, she is an amazing performer and is part of Jah Wobble’s Nippon Dub Ensemble.
Also on the bill is the fabulous punk / urban folk angel Julie D Riley former front woman of Camden legends Rosa Mota and female half of the band Crown Estate she is causing a stir with her solo project ‘I am her’ with a new release coming soon. The wonderful effervescent Kosmic Troubadour (link) will be lifting our hearts and vibrations, fabulous guest poet Math Jones (link) , Lizzy Shakespeare will be delighting us with her verdant mythical tale, mystery guest DJ and
 Society of Imaginary Friends will be taking you on a journey through the mysterious wooded glades. 
 
Kathy and Roger have devised a special vegan Forest Banquet. Wild Forest Mushroom Soup, wild Forest Pizza with wild mushrooms and creamy root vegetables and an amazing Black Forest Gateau (schwarzwälder kirsch torte)..make sure you’re hungry !!

Yes folks !! Its our Yuletide Soiree at the World Famous Kabaret@Karamel..not a Partridge in sight..but a delicious vegan Arancini…and a deluxe selection box of entertainment treats…star of the European stage and right hand girl of Lena Lovich we are proud to announce the arrival of opera goddess, the nightingale of Barclay Square herself…. Kirsten Morrison (Link)  ably abetted by gorgeous counter tenor Peter Shipman and John Black (spanish guitar), he blew us away last Soiree with his mellifluous horn…the Saint of the Saxophone John Glyn, airing excerpts from his new show that will be toured in Mexico in the new year ..rising star Cian Binchy (Link), the beautiful songs of Mathew Waterfall Mansford sound man at the Albert Hall and Kabaret, Joni Mitchell of the new century Beth Jones (Link), dark, marvellous poems and musings from Martin Wakefield, Lord Buckley of Hackney will be commanding the attention of the house as he leads us a merry dance with his new accomplice bass player Finn, plus the one and only DJ Miracle rhythm spinning the wheels of steel and Society of Imaginary Friends and a Parsnip in a Singing Ringing Pear Tree . It’s our “Home County Amateur Dramatic Class” Soiree

Dear Friends,
From Tring to Crawley..Amersham to Reigate..the dusky Downs resound to the sound of dramatis personae..for this is the time of preparation.. the drawing in of the nights can mean only one thing to these outcasts.. Panto season is approaching.
Our October Soiree is dedicated to London’s cultural refugees who dwell beyond the M25 where things are quite different…in a quiet cul-de-sac of the mind they float…there is no music other than 80’s power synth ballads or Gary Numan..the Am Dram village hall is at the centre of the Home Counties mock Tudor universe..
As a mark of deep respect for this tradition Society of Imaginary Friends will be performing the premiere of their “Home Counties” song cycle featuring their cosy pub classic “Please Put That Hammer Away” and “It’s My Home Counties Amateur Dramatic Class”.
Treading the boards with them will be beauteous and often hillarious poetMartin Wakefield…uncompromisingly spectacular rapper Hip Hop, ‘Grit Pop’, Psychedelic Soul and Funk Goddess “WondRwomN”  (Link)
, the deranged and strange Lord Buckley..the fabulous poet and raconteur Cian Binchey (Link)..with very special guest the gorgeous Beth Jones(Link) will be presenting her angelic original songs…Ted Sawyer will be spinning the Northern Soul vinyl singles of the seventies and the evening will be brought to a tumultuous climax with Frank Frenzy’s 80’s Power Disco.. fresh from a tumescent tour of Home Counties cricket pavilions…sangria for two please waiter..and don’t forget…Kathy and Roger will be offering their award winning Vegan Cuisine..this month..their theme will be “Abigail’s Vegan Party” …reimagining the 70’s classics like prawn cocktail and Boeuf Bourguignon as a death free feast!! As the clocks go back we celebrate together the extraordinary gift of an extra hour of life from the God Chronos. Of course this means that not only do we have an extra hour in bed on Sunday but an extra hour is also available to enjoy our Time Saturated Soiree on 4th November.
We will feature artists abundant in time and time signatures of the non linear variety… for instance..The Astronauts set their Atomic Clock while traveling at the speed of light in the opposite direction (Rock and Reel magazine described their front man Mark Astronaut as “The Post-Punk Dylan of Welwyn Garden City’)..live from the event horizon we have the extraordinary Taktylos (“Philip Glass meets Soft Machine” a real treat..The Guardian).Society Of Imaginary Friends will present the briefest of Rock Operas “On the Third Stroke” based on the life and Times of Ethel Jane Cain the very first speaking clock, (glamorous and exact the living embodiment of precision…she sat between the tick and the tock..swinging in the hammock strung between the Sun and the Moon… The Idler Magazine)..Our “Sun” is the fabulously, beautiful, talented, rising star singer/ songwriter Beth Jones, our “Moon” is supremely talented multi-instrumentalist Marius French , there is a whisper that the star of ITV’s drama “The Level” Cian Binchy will be joining us… poet Nighmar Ascousky will shock and awe , plus we will be boogieing to the funky stylings of DJ Onjdrew till the wee small hours plus more acts to be announced and Alfie is going to set fire to something…entry exotically free. We have an exciting line-up for the June Soiree 2016.. Delicious melodies from Flute and harp duo Martin Lau and Sheila Moylan and after a fantastic reception at last months Soho Soiree we are pleased to invite back the beautiful, Bowie-esk, songs of singer / guitarist Jed Demochowski (formally of the VIP’s and also a charted solo artist).

There’ll be gritty, urban punk tunes from the fabulous HER plus a very special guest who does something wonderous and fascinating with moving air – more on this soon.

There’s also the beautiful, talented Beth Jones (a star in the making), plus sexy, intriguing poetry from mysterious beauty Keleigh Wolf, Sir Elvis from Nairobi Kenya of BBC news fame will be wowing us with his Country tunes and new songs from us – Society of Imaginary Friends…

After the live music we’ll have funky beats from DJ Magic Touch & DJ Supa B who will play til 2am if the demand is there – (that’s down to you lovely people!)

If you’re hungry the venue doubles as an award winning vegan restaurant, and good value too as all meals are under a tenner and there’s filling snacks under a fiver so you won’t starve! Food is served from 6.30 – 10.30pm …

We have decided to get all cosy for the Winter, inspired by the comfortable sofa-ed up surroundings of Bar Karamel our next Soiree on 30th November is going to celebrate the Great British Sunday Afternoon starting at the earlier time of 3.30pm and running till 10ish…eclectic music, stunning verse, hilarious comedy, experimental film, even a sing song around the piano…Indian Thali’s will be served all afternoon and evening, kids and pets of all kinds are welcome….I can’t think of a more perfect Sunday.

The evening will feature an amazing band who are gaining loads of music industry attention, regularly played on XFM, BBC Radio 6, sold out Oslo Hackney, featured on the Clash magazine & NME websites, big things are happening for this band and so for contractual reasons we can’t name them here as the Soiree is a secret/ warm-up gig for them, see them before their big launch in December…

We are proud to announce our Secret Soiree Halloween Special at Kabaret@Karamel 7.30 Friday Oct 31st featuring the sonorous beauty of William D Drake, Meg Lee Chin the girl who is setting Facebook on fire with her uncompromising debate and fabulous songs, “the Blake of the back gardens” Sam Jolly, some new songs from the Society of Imaginary Friends, Chart Topping songstress Virginia Plain (former lead singer of the Jags), bass clarinet goddess Nicola Baigent (North Sea Radio Orchestra and W D Drake and his so called Friends) will be playing a duet for bass clarinet and wine glass not to be missed,  Cian Binchey patron saint of Love and Understanding, The Green Gathering Slam Poetry winner Midnight Shelley, The fabulous DJ’s Louise Luminous & Mr Frank Frenzy taking us into the wee small hours plus other very special guests whose names we may not utter due to strict contractual limitations……
The evening will feature inaccurate Tarot card reading..trick or treat for children and adults..the DJ that time forgot will be conjuring up the musical spirit of times gone by with his extraordinary sound reproduction device…a genuine medium is on hand to pass on to the other side any messages that you may have…we have Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix and Mozart booked for a 10 minute slot at 10 past 10. 
We will be showing a selection of Hammer Horror films from 6pm to get us all in the mood and there is a special deal on bloody Mary’s and Red Russian cocktails and Kabaret@Karamels amazing vegetarian cuisine at affordable prices...Can’t wait to see you !!! We are performing on the main Stage of The Green Gathering on Friday 1st August. The Green Gathering is a fantastic four-day festival which promotes sustainable living. It is held on 31st July – 3rd August at Piercefield Park, Chepstow (near Bristol) Adult tickets are £90, youth tickets (age 11 – 15 years) are £50 and under 11s go free.
